Medtner could not have wished for a better advocate for his music, because Patricia Verhagen appears to have everything technically and musically necessary to convincingly present these pianistically complex works.

The compositions opus 39 are the culmination of a brilliantly interpreted album, which justly
confirms the reason Medtner’s friend Rachmaninoff valued his music so highly.

Verhagen’s intelligent, energetic and perfectly recorded playing does great justice to a composer who (finally!) is becoming better known.
